Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need all three policies?
While not legally required in all jurisdictions, having all three policies is considered best practice and may be required by:
- Payment processors (Stripe, PayPal)
- Platform policies (Discord, game servers)
- Regional laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
Can I copy policies from another website?
No. Each store's policies should be unique and reflect your specific business practices. Copying policies can lead to:
- Inaccurate information for your customers
- Legal issues if practices differ
- Lack of legal protection
What if my policies are very long?
Long policies are fine and often necessary for legal compliance. Customers can scroll through the policy modal, and the Markdown formatting helps with readability through clear headings and sections.
How do I handle multiple languages?
Currently, legal policies are stored in a single language. If you serve customers in multiple regions, consider:
- Writing policies in your primary business language
- Using clear, simple language that translates well
- Including a note that translations may be provided upon request
Do I need a lawyer to write policies?
While the provided templates are comprehensive, consulting with a legal professional is recommended if:
- You operate in multiple jurisdictions
- You handle sensitive data (health, financial, children's data)
- You have complex business models or partnerships
- You're unsure about specific legal requirements
