Notification Settings
Stay informed about important events in your store by configuring notification alerts. Pixlpay supports both Discord webhook notifications and email notifications, allowing you to receive real-time updates about orders, subscriptions, support tickets, and other critical store activities.
Overview
The Notification Settings page allows you to:
- Connect your Discord server to receive notifications in a dedicated channel
- Configure email notifications to any email address
- Choose which events trigger notifications
- Manage notification preferences by category
You can enable one or both notification channels depending on your preferences. Each channel can be configured independently with the same event triggers.
Discord Notifications
Discord notifications are sent to a specific channel in your Discord server via the Pixlpay bot.
Setting Up Discord Notifications
Follow these steps to connect your Discord server:
Step 1: Add Pixlpay Bot to Your Server
- Navigate to Settings > Notifications in your store dashboard
- Click Add Bot to Discord
- Select your Discord server from the authorization screen
- Grant the required permissions (Send Messages, Manage Webhooks, Read Messages)
- Click Authorize
Required Permissions
The bot needs permission to send messages and access channel information. Ensure you grant all requested permissions during authorization.
Step 2: Generate Verification Code
- Click Generate Code on the Notifications page
- Copy the 6-character verification code
- The code expires in 30 minutes - generate a new one if it expires
Step 3: Verify Your Server
- Open Discord and go to your server
- In any channel, type
/verify YOUR-CODE(replace with your actual code) - The bot will confirm successful verification
- Return to the Pixlpay dashboard - it will auto-detect the connection
Auto-Detection
Once you generate a verification code, the dashboard automatically checks every 5 seconds for a successful connection. You can also click Check Now to manually verify.
Step 4: Select Notification Channel
- Enable Discord notifications with the toggle switch
- Choose a channel from the dropdown menu
- Notifications will be sent to this channel
- Click Save Settings
Disconnecting Discord
To disconnect your Discord server:
- Click Disconnect next to the connected server name
- Confirm the action
- All Discord notifications will be disabled
Data Loss
Disconnecting will reset all Discord notification settings. You'll need to reconnect and reconfigure if you want to enable them again.
Email Notifications
Email notifications provide an alternative or complementary way to receive store alerts.
Configuring Email Notifications
- Enable email notifications with the toggle switch
- Enter the email address where you want to receive notifications
- Choose which events should trigger emails (see Event Configuration below)
- Click Save Settings
Multiple Recipients
Currently, notifications can only be sent to one email address. To notify multiple people, consider using a shared email address or distribution list, or use Discord notifications for team-wide alerts.
Event Configuration
Choose which store events trigger notifications. Events are organized into categories for easier management.
Available Event Categories

|---|---|---|
| Orders | Purchase and order-related events | New order, order completed, order refunded |
| Subscriptions | Recurring subscription events | New subscription, subscription renewed, subscription cancelled |

| Payments | Payment processing events | Payment received, payment failed, refund processed |

Default Settings
When you first access the Notifications page, commonly important events (new orders, payment failures, new support tickets) are enabled by default.
Managing Event Notifications
Enable/Disable Individual Events:
- Scroll to the event you want to configure
- Toggle the switch on the right side
- Enabled events show a blue toggle, disabled show gray
Bulk Enable/Disable by Category:
- Click Enable All or Disable All next to the category name
- All events in that category will be toggled at once
Notification Channel Required
Event toggles are disabled until you enable at least one notification channel (Discord or Email). Enable Discord or Email notifications first, then configure your events.
Testing Notifications
After configuring your settings, it's a good idea to test that notifications are working:
- For Discord: Place a test order in your store and check if the notification appears in your selected Discord channel
- For Email: Trigger a simple event (like creating a support ticket) and verify the email arrives at your configured address
- Check your notification settings if alerts don't arrive within a few minutes
Delivery Time
Notifications are typically delivered within seconds of the event occurring. If you don't receive notifications, check your spam folder (for email) or channel permissions (for Discord).
Troubleshooting
Discord Notifications Not Working
Bot not appearing in server:
- Make sure you completed the authorization process
- Check that the bot has permission to access your server
- Try removing and re-adding the bot
Verification code not working:
- Ensure you typed the code exactly as shown (case-sensitive)
- Check that the code hasn't expired (30-minute limit)
- Generate a new code and try again
Not receiving Discord notifications:
- Verify Discord notifications are enabled (toggle switch is blue)
- Confirm a notification channel is selected
- Check that the bot has permission to send messages in the selected channel
- Ensure the relevant events are enabled in Event Configuration
- Test with a known event (like placing an order)
Channel list is empty:
- Refresh the page to reload channels
- Make sure your Discord server has text channels
- Verify the bot has permission to view channels
Email Notifications Not Working
Not receiving emails:
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Verify email notifications are enabled
- Confirm the email address is correct (no typos)
- Ensure the relevant events are enabled
- Test your email server isn't blocking automated emails
Emails going to spam:
- Add
noreply@pixlpay.comto your contacts - Mark Pixlpay emails as "Not Spam"
- Check your email provider's filtering rules
General Issues
Changes not saving:
- Ensure you click Save Settings after making changes
- Check for error messages at the top of the page
- Verify you have a stable internet connection
- Try refreshing the page and re-applying settings
Events not triggering:
- Confirm at least one notification channel (Discord or Email) is enabled
- Verify the specific event toggle is enabled
- Check that the event actually occurred in your store
- Allow up to 1 minute for notification delivery
Best Practices
Recommended Settings
For most store owners, we recommend:
- Enable both Discord and Email - Redundancy ensures you don't miss critical alerts
- Always enable these events:
- New order created
- Payment failed
- New support ticket
- Delivery failed
- Use Discord for real-time alerts - Great for active monitoring during business hours
- Use Email for important summaries - Reliable backup that works everywhere
Notification Management
- Don't over-notify: Enable only events you'll act on to avoid alert fatigue
- Review quarterly: Revisit your settings every few months to adjust based on your workflow
- Use categories: Enable/disable entire categories quickly when running promotions or during off-hours
- Test changes: After updating settings, trigger a test event to confirm delivery
Team Notifications
If you have team members:
- Use Discord notifications for shared team visibility
- Create a dedicated
#store-alertschannel - Use email for individual owner/admin notifications
- Consider using different Discord channels for different event types (orders, support, etc.)
