Store Translations

Automatically translate your storefront content into multiple languages to reach a global audience.

Overview

Pixlpay's auto-translation feature uses AI-powered translation to convert your store content (products, pages, blog posts, categories) into multiple languages. Customers can browse your store in their preferred language using the language selector.

How It Works

  1. You write content in your source language (typically English)
  2. Enable auto-translation and select target languages
  3. Pixlpay automatically translates your content
  4. Customers see your store in their browser's preferred language

Supported Languages

Pixlpay supports translation between these languages:

More Languages Coming

Additional languages including Japanese, Korean, and more are being added regularly. Contact support if you need a specific language.

Enabling Auto-Translation

Step 1: Access Translation Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Language
  2. Scroll to the Auto-Translation section
  3. Check the service status indicator (green = online)

Step 2: Configure Languages

  1. Enable Auto-Translation - Toggle on to activate the feature
  2. Source Language - Select the language you write content in (default: English)
  3. Target Languages - Click to select languages you want to translate to

Step 3: Save Settings

Click Save Settings to store your configuration.

Language Sync

When you save translation settings, the target languages are automatically enabled on your storefront. This ensures customers can actually switch to those languages.

Translating Your Content

Automatic Translation

When Auto-translate on publish is enabled:

  • New products are translated when created
  • Page content is translated when saved
  • Blog posts are translated when published
  • Categories are translated when created

Manual Translation

To translate all existing content at once:

  1. Go to Settings > Language
  2. Click Translate Now
  3. Wait for the job to complete (usually 1-5 minutes)

Use Force Retranslate to re-translate content that was previously translated. This is useful if:

  • Translation quality has improved
  • You've updated the source content significantly
  • You want fresh translations

What Gets Translated

The auto-translation system translates:

Content TypeFields Translated
ProductsName, description, short description
PagesTitle, content, meta description
Blog PostsTitle, content, excerpt
CategoriesName, description
Community GoalsTitle, description

What's NOT Translated

Some content is intentionally not translated:

  • Technical terms: SKU, API, SSL, etc.
  • Brand names: Pixlpay, Discord, Stripe, PayPal, etc.
  • Numbers and prices: These display in the customer's locale format
  • Custom HTML/CSS: Code blocks are preserved as-is

Customer Language Experience

Automatic Detection

When a customer visits your store, Pixlpay:

  1. Checks their browser's language preference
  2. Falls back to your store's default language if not available
  3. Remembers their choice for future visits

Language Selector

Customers can manually switch languages using the language selector in your storefront navigation. The selector displays:

  • Flag icons for each language
  • Language names in their native form

Translation Statistics

Track your translation coverage in Settings > Language:

Best Practices

Content Writing Tips

For best translation quality:

  • Use clear, simple language - Avoid idioms and slang
  • Keep sentences short - Long sentences translate less accurately
  • Be consistent with terminology - Use the same words for the same concepts
  • Avoid abbreviations - Spell out terms when possible

Testing Translations

After translating:

  1. Switch your browser language or use the language selector
  2. Review key pages (homepage, product pages, checkout)
  3. Check that prices and dates display correctly
  4. Verify no text is cut off in the UI

Updating Content

When you update source content:

  • Translations are not automatically updated
  • Use Translate Now to refresh translations after major updates
  • Use Force Retranslate if you've made significant changes

Troubleshooting

Translation Service Unavailable

If the status indicator shows red:

  1. Wait a few minutes and click Check Status
  2. The service may be temporarily offline
  3. Contact support if the issue persists

Translations Not Appearing

If customers don't see translations:

  1. Verify the language is in your target languages
  2. Click Translate Now to trigger translation
  3. Clear your browser cache
  4. Check that the language is enabled in storefront settings

Poor Translation Quality

AI translations may not always be perfect:

  • Consider having native speakers review important content
  • Use simpler source language
  • Contact support to report consistently poor translations for a language

Job Stuck in Progress

If a translation job seems stuck:

  1. Wait up to 30 minutes (large stores take longer)
  2. Refresh the page to check status
  3. Contact support if it's been over an hour
